Ring a ding ding

Posted on 16:50 by Unknown

NotMexican casually told me a couple weeks ago that I should start engagement ring shopping. For most women I'm sure this is their dream come true. For me, the aspiring cougar-to-be, I had no idea what to do.

So I went about it in a scientific way. I googled diamonds. I read all about the C's and was scientifically prepped to shop.

I headed to the Diamond district in Boston and the endless sparkle threw my online education out the window.

I was AMAZED at how inexpensive a ring could be if I was willing to compromise on things. It was nuts.

I was overwhelmed with the whole experience, so I meandered home and stumbled into a boutique jewelry store on Charles Street.

I saw this ring and fell in love. It's a champagne diamond, so a "terrible" color but PERFECT for me. It was set in rose gold... not the ideal platinum but PERFECT for me. It has a halo of diamonds which tricks the eye into seeing a much larger ring, thus dropping the price.

It's beautiful. I took this picture from the shop's website. Sadly the store burned down last week, but I bet I could email the owner and get a deal on this ring... we'll see... but after I showed this picture to NotMexican, he told me to leave everything in his hands.

Hysteria!

Posted on 10:42 by Unknown

I hope everyone had and/or is continuing to have a wonderful holiday season.

The Hysteria bag from gucci was my fabulous gift from Santa. I have re-coordinated my New Years outfit around it.

Speaking of New Years, I made reservations for dinner at the latest and hippest new bar in Boston. The M bar at the new Mandarin Oriental is super sexy and swarming with sugar daddies. For New Years though, I wanted to share it with RedSox and anyone else who was in town.

I made the reservation and told RedSox. It's a tapas menu with a bottle of champagne included. He loves tapas so I figured he would love this idea. Yesterday he took one look at the menu and said he'd rather go elsewhere since most of the dishes are seafood dishes.

I was pissed, but I wasn't going to give up on the M bar that easily. I made a safety reservation at Ruths' Chris Steakhouse since that's our favorite steak place.  I also called the M bar and asked them if the chef would make alternative dishes for RedSox. I told them he's allergic to seafood.

I hope the chef hooks me up because I really really really want to go there to celebrate the new year... and show of my new bag ;)

Quick Relief

Posted on 15:05 by Unknown

After not being able to shake my anger the following day, I decided the only way to feel better would be to hit my father where it hurts the most... his wallet.

I bought a gorgeous Burberry tote for $500. Instant smile!

Who are we really?

Posted on 16:45 by Unknown
I started my blog as a way to try and open up to people, to not be afraid to be myself. It's been very helpful. It's been eye-opening.

Who I am in person is not too different from who I am on my blog, but the people who see me in person do not always know the secrets that those who read my blog do.

It's scary at times just how much my writing reveals... fear, envy, lies... the Truth.

I've been playing around with craigslist again, just to see who is out there, to see what is available should I choose to act.

I read a M4W where the guy wanted to take a woman shopping, no strings. It was rather odd to me since most of those kinds of ads require some form of sexual compensation. I was curious, so I responded.

We chatted a bit, and he pretty much revealed his extreme lack of self-confidence, of social skills, of self-respect. I felt sorry for him and decided there was no way I would ever meet up with this guy, but I couldn't help but ask about his past experiences taking women shopping.

He told me about licking a woman's feet, about eating another's feces (YUCK). I told him all I would want is to go shopping, and he told me he had taken one other girl shopping who ONLY wanted to go shopping.

He told me her name was Lin and she hailed from Chicago. Funny, I know a Lin from Chicago.

He described her beautiful blue eyes and that he wanted to hang out with her again, but she refuses. Then he says "OMG, you're friends with her."

I was shocked. I had sent him my myspace page, forgetting Lin had added me as a friend. She and I are not really friends. Actually she is one of RedSox's friends.

I had no idea that she and I were so similar... despite being so different.

I ended my conversation with the guy shortly afterwards, somewhat ashamed of the box I had just opened.

But the truth is the truth. It reveals very much. I knew I was no where near being the poster child for all that is good, but what I now know is neither is Lin.

Loosen up my buttons... uh huh

Posted on 08:09 by Unknown
As the self-appointed queen of bargains, I'm still a snob about my clothes. At least I don't buy fakes...

A local boutique had their super sale, and I went immediately after work. I probably tried on 50 outfits, but I settled on three very select items totalling to almost 75% off. One item is this gorgeous summer/fall coat by Milly... originally $400.

We had a cool day in Boston and I had the opportunity to sport my new coat. At the end of the day I realized that one of the buttons was missing. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but as you all know I haven't had the best couple of weeks.

I went to Milly's website, emailed the two contact names I found and went off on them about my expectations on quality. It was completely immature and unnecessary, but I did it and can't take it back.

And to my surprise, one of them responded. She apologized for the inconvenience and put a replacement button in the mail for me.

I am very impressed with the prompt reply and action... but she sent me the wrong button.

I'm hoping the coat will look just fine without the last button. At this point I just don't have the energy to care anymore.

obDRESSion

Posted on 18:41 by Unknown
Normally one would expect me to put this post in my shopping blog, Roxy Shops, but I had to write it here.

My break from studying used to be hitting the bottle, but when hangovers took away from the following day's study-time I realized I needed to replace my love for alcohol with a love for something else... at least temporarily.

Ok ok... I've always loved shopping, but now I'd say I might be addicted. In the last month alone, I have bought 4 dresses... and they are not cheap. So when I reached my credit card limit, I opted to just show my following great finds to RedSox and get his opinion.

It was fun, an activity we could share when not together. (I've had to limit our face time because of the boards). Today RedSox asked if he could stop by to say hi. Of course I agreed cos I had been up and at it since 6am.

When I hopped in his car to drive around the block a few times and chat, he handed me a surprise. This totally cute mini dress by Sky. I just discovered this brand, but the designs are no where to be found in Boston. Ok I haven't tried yet.

Anyways, I LOOOVE IT! As soon as I got back up to my apartment I instant-messaged Fashion Kitty, the one who introduced me to Sky. She was super excited for me, and I plan to wear it when I meet her in LA in a couple weeks.

Alrighty, happy shopping to you all!! Back to the books for me... until my next purchase.

Check it Out!

Posted on 18:25 by Unknown
ThisNext is a shopping website that is perfect for anyone seeking the unique. I stumbled upon it one day after reading random blogs, and I was hooked. Not only did I find the coolest stuff thanks to the random amazing shoppers in this world, but I was able to share my fabulous finds.

The website contacted me last week because they loved the items I recommended and they wanted me to apply to be a regular writer for their blog. I wrote them a sample and they loved it!

But once again medical school decided to ruin all my fun. The blogging demands conflicted with my USMLE study schedule, so they decided to have me guest blog once in a while rather than hire me as a regular.

I was dissapointed, but I decided to practice a mature defense mechanism called sublimation. I've taken my negative feelings and put them to work in a positive manner.

The result is my BRAND NEW shopping blog, Roxy Shops. Almost every item I recommend on ThisNext will get a featured spread on Roxy Shops. Go ahead and check it out!!!

There's a new sugar daddy in town

Posted on 03:23 by Unknown
I love to shop, but I am what one might call a budget fashionista. I don't buy anything unless I absolutely love it. I will try to get the best deal possible. If there is a rewards program, a contest, anything involving the word FREE... I'm involved.

While this has worked incredibly well for me, I can't help but yearn for more. I love Gucci, Dior, Louis, and all up and coming designers. I find myself complaining that I need a sugar daddy.

I've searched for one. I've tried out a couple, but I guess I'm not really up for it. The reality is I want to be spoiled by a man who WANTS to spoil me and by a man I WANT to spoil me. This is rare. This is difficult. This is damn near impossible.

Or is it?

A few weeks ago, RedSox brought up a dating website that is for sugar daddys/babies. He thought it was hilarious... I told him I had a profile on it.

He wasn't surprised, nor was he was he shocked when I told him about LV. The only thing he found surprising was that I didn't spend more money. Wha?

We never really talked about it again, but RedSox would drop snipits here and there whenever I talked about my latest purchase. "You know... I could have bought that for you."

I brushed him off. I was afraid to have someone I actually liked, someone who's company I enjoyed, someone I respected buy stuff for me. I almost feared it would cheapen our relationship.

Saturday after brunch, RedSox asked me what I wanted to do. We were already on Newbury Street (the Rodeo Drive/Rue Montmartre/5th Avenue of Boston). I suggested going to the movies or going shopping. He wanted to go shopping.

We went into Diesel first. They had stuff for both sexes. Neither one of us liked anything. Then we went into a cheap jewelry store. I needed to plug some of the holes in my head. I picked out a few earrings and went to the register to pay. RedSox asked me if I wanted him to pay.

I was caught off-guard but replied with "It's only $20, not a big deal for me." His response was that it wasn't a big deal for him either, and out came his credit card.

Fine... a few earrings.

We went upstairs to Bebe. Is it me or is the one on Newbury the "slutty" one. I know every salesgirl was wearing Bebe... but dayam! It was booty-fest 2007!!

Nothing good in Bebe for me. I wanted to go to Jasmine Sola because their was a top/mini dress I wanted to purchase. I picked it out and tried it on for RedSox. While I was in the fitting room, he went off and grabbed tons of jeans for me to try. I tried them for him. Then he grabbed a Lacoste shirt and a belt. Everything looked good, but I just wanted to buy what I came for and leave.

He wanted me to get a pair of Rock & Republic jeans, Lacoste top and red belt. I didn't want to spend the money. He said he would buy them. I said "how about I buy my top and the belt. You can get the jeans and Lacoste top?"

At the register he cut me off and paid for it all.

Le sigh.

That's when I called him my Sugar Daddy...
