I had not one, not two... but THREE events to celebrate and commemorate the very special occasion that is my new marriage.
The first party was the actual wedding itself. Thank God it was small. The ceremony went well and the reception was awesome because it's much easier to make a reservation for 17 people at Ruths Chris than it is to coordinate a big dinner at some event hall.
And that's what we did at reception number 2... the one I call "Dadzilla's party."
My father had to have his way or it was the highway. So not surprisingly, we didn't speak to each other for months. I decided that I wasn't going to argue. I was just gonna sit back and let the parade happen.
Speaking of parades, while we were standing at the top of the stairs of the reception hall I noticed a high school marching band "practicing" in the parking lot. I said outloud "I can't believe the school is practicing at this hour." My father responded with glee " I hired them!!!"
OMG moment #1
So we greet everyone, enter the hall and start drinking away. Then my cousin gets up to be the MC. He thanks everyone and then introduces the entertainment for the evening.
A comedian.
OMG moment #2
I gotta say that the comedian did a fantastic job. One of uncles was darn near rolling on the floor with laughter.
The food was great and everyone had a wonderful time... and all the credit goes to dad.
Last night was reception number 3... the one I call "Mom's party partially including me"
This event was low key and wonderful. This is the event that we invited NotMexican's family and friends and my non-indian friends... and my mom's entire department at the hospital.
The day was beautiful. The setting was a gorgeous castle/museum on the ocean.
Then a thunderstorm rolled in as the guests started arriving, My mom was freaking out.
Luckily the cocktail hour was inside and by the time we were ready to head outside to the tent, the rain stopped and there was a GORGEOUS rainbow over the ocean.
I'll get some pictures up soon!
